Becoming 20

hah, I've just finished reading my 19th birthday blog. That was one hell of a party. You know I've done well if I topped that.

Well! I did! This was my 20th birthday, after all. It was one crazy day, but hang around and I'll let you know everything.

Literally, from 10am to the following morning I had exactly zero spare time. So I thought I'd get up early and shower / open my presents etc. But I overslept 40 minutes! I had to go straight to lectures (Monday is my busiest day, 6 lectures). Luckily one lecture was cancelled and I skipped a maths problems class (I got the sheets though. I'll do them, I promise).

The celebrating started exactly 30 minutes after my last lecture. We went around the corner to a pub for food.

I didn't really make a big deal about the invites because I hate pressuring people with things like that but like 13 of us turned up in the end! We pulled a few tables together and it was really fun.

Oh, that badge, by the way, was from my sister and her boyfriend. They said I had to wear it and get some good photos to prove it. I had it on my bag all day and then I sported it all night.

After food we went to the games room in the union to play some pool! Urgh, my latest craze is becoming ambidextrous (after I found out my uncle was. I swear it'd be like a super-power). So, as it was my birthday, I got some of the guys to play left handed:

After pool we headed straight to the union bar! Where I was welcomed with a disgusting shot from James (right in pic). I took it like a man though, you should've seen me! Didn't even flinch...

We hanged out for a while and then went straight next door to the union nightclub! Man, that's exactly where I went last year, but it's still really fun so I did it again.

At first the place was barren. Me & James had to fake enthusiasm being the first on the dance floor. Luckily a guy dressed in cardboard boxes came along and made me feel much less stupid!

Anyway, that was it, James was away in his element. He and Speed put all the other dancers to shame on the dance floor (all three of them):

Look at that picture. Have you ever seen anything so brilliant? (Not to mention hilarious, I've got it as my background). But seriously, the love in this picture is epic. That's what I'm talking about. My wonderful friends helping me celebrate, all with infinite love for each other. It's not often you see two grown men this cheery.

Eventually the place filled up and I met up with some other friends.

Wow, what a good night. And you know what made it so much better that last year? I didn't get too drunk! I did loads of preparation before the evening to make sure I didn't, and it paid off! I swear, I really don't need alcohol to have a good time. I was merry but could still talk / wasn't annoying / clumsy. I even managed to get 8 hours sleep, what a bonus! The next day I felt BRILLIANT! Compared to last year, that kicks ass.

I can't believe how amazing nice everyone was to me yesterday. That's what I really love about birthdays. I thought I got a lot of facebook messages last year but this year it was incredible. And cards, and presents - ooh! Speed got me a really brilliant gift of different wines to try a book all about them! I've been really getting into red wine lately, how cool am I! (Thanks loads for the presents, brother! and an awesome day in general. And the birthday doughnut, of course!)

Aaaand, my favorite (American) eFriend made me an amazing birthday video!

That's so awesome. Can't believe she sent a video over for me! That means a lot to me, thank you loads Sarah Maree!

Man, what a cool birthday. Thanks everyone for helping me out with this one, everyone who came out, gave me gifts / cards / messages, said hello in the street. You made a 20 year old really happy :-)
