Sadness and Gladness

Hey blog

Today was a pretty weird day. I was at the pottery doing my volunteering (get my 50-hour certificate next week!!). It was just me and Rob (the supervisor) as usual. I really like Rob, I've gotten to know him quite well lately, he's a really hands-on, born-a-man, down-to-Earth kinda guy. It was only a few weeks ago that I was congratulating him on his wife getting pregnant. But this morning he was really down and he told me his wife has lost the baby. That sucks, I'm never very good in situations like this, but I really feel bad for the dude.

Understandably, Rob wasn't as helpful as usual today. He told me to build a wall with bricks & cement. "One part cement, three part sand" was the only help I got before he left me. I seriously can't believe how hard brick laying is! Just mixing the cement is killer! I wish I had my camera with me, my wall looked terrible at first. But I think I got it pretty good in the end! I felt proud!

Later on, a new volunteer turned up. This is great because I've been the only volunteer there ever since I started! Oh, apart from the other girl on the first day, but she hasn't turned up since she first met me! This new guy was a nice chap and I found out that he was a vegan. I've never really thought about veganism before, but today I was chatting to him about it and I discovered that it totally sucks. I knew they didn't use any product that came from an animal, but I didn't know why they did this. He basically told me "starving countries are starving because they feed all their crops to animals which come to us". So I said "well what if you had a chicken that you looked after in your back garden? Would you eat her eggs?". He told me he didn't see anything wrong with that morally, but still didn't think he'd be able to do it. Why the fuck!? I really don't get that...

Today is my lil' sister's 18th birthday. We had a nice BBQ Sunday and a meal on Saturday:

I just finished playing them at Monopoly.

Ohh, by the way, I was at the train station the other day and some dude was walking the other way and as he passed me he started walking like an idiot. I figured, later on, that he was taking the mick out of the way I walk!! I didn't know I walked funnily! But I asked Speed about it and, sure enough, I do walk funnily. I think it's definitely time to address the way you walk if a stranger drops a hint like that, let alone a friend. Trouble is, I've been trying but it's really hard to change the way you walk!! When you think about it, walking is so complex!!

Dude, you don't walk funnily. And even if you do, who cares?
