We didn't know exactly where we wanted to go apart from west Wales. We decided Friday to head to Saundersfoot. It's like two hours away. We hoped in the car Saturday morning and drove!
The general theme for the weekend was letting go of all worries and care. We stopped caring about coursework, health, money and all of the bad things that existed outside of our perfect Welsh bubble.
We first arrived at Saundersfoot and had a walk along the beach. The weather was brilliant for the whole weekend!
Then we headed down to Temby, about ten minutes away, so we could go to some sea-side shops! And, of course, some traditional fish & chips. They even had healthy option batter! But no, no - we weren't caring about health or money. Quite the contrary.
After shopping we decided to find a hotel / B&B to stay in. We must've checked 90% of the hotels in town. We were aiming for perfection. We did really well in the end, found a really nice place, cheapest we went to (not that we cared!) in Saundersfoot. The room was huge! (way too many photos here so have a slide show!)
It was a bit weird at the hotel though. It was like we were in someone's house. When we went to the living room there were loads of personal photos up and a dog skin on the sofa!
We went out for a meal, we were feeling a bit of Asian persuasion so decided to get an Indian. I'm so proud of myself for trying two new things! : Murgh Masala and Peshwari Nan. Both were really nice! I recommend!
Earlier in the day we saw posters for a night club! We thought it would be hillarious to go to a night club in this tiny little - seaside - old people village. We couldn't imagine what it would be like! Anyway, after the meal loads of kids were out all dappered up and it didn't look that fun. We walked around the village in the dark and it felt just like Before Sunrise! Really strange. Anyway, we got to the hotel, played some pool, watched some TV then went to bed.
The next day we had so many plans but they didn't really work. They were:
- Drive on the beach - the beach was closed
- Go to Oakwood theme park - closed
- Go shopping in Temby again - yeah we did that, it was fun and we ended up eating lunch at some weird 1950s cafe
- Go to some activity center place - it didn't look that fun actually so we skipped it
The weekend was really cool, I really enjoyed it! Total stress detox. Our throats were really crokey when we got home because we sang at full volume all the way home (and all the way there / everywhere we drove). It was totally fun and we're going to do it again and try to spend even more money and be even more unhealthy. I'd recommend it. Don't go for a long holiday because then you have to worry about grown-up things like money. Just two days, take out £100 and try to spend every penny. You'll love it.
Ok, I'm starting to think that I've been hanging around with the wrong people my entire life. You two seem like the perfect buddies. I want to put dibs on your next road-trip so we can talk about philosophy. Unless your road trips are like, a "Mike and Rich only", thing. I don't want to be stepping on any toes here.
