Wow, what a cool few days! Strap in:
Firstly, my cool friend Phil came to visit me on Friday night! I finished jammin' at 9 and he was already at my house when I got back! I wanted to show him a good night so I took him to the university nightclub: Solus. Got a few friends to come with and we had a great time with face paints and glow sticks:
The next day, Phil helped me realise that tea is actually not that horrid. We enjoyed a cup together!! I look like I've been crying cause we took about 20 photos trying not to laugh, I spilt tea everywhere but we got there in the end:
I miss him already, but I'll see him on Saturday. That's when I'm going home!! I'm really excited! Can't wait to see all of my friends / family and house.
In the first photo, the girl on the left is Vicki! Hey Vicki! One of my coolest readers! I didn't realise she still read this, and I'm always flattered when I learn people read this thing. Vicki's one of the most down to earth / best judge of character / genuine person. I don't know a good word to sum up all of the reasons I think she's cool. You'll have to take my word for it. She and some of her house mates cooked us all (like, 15 of us) a gorgeous Christmas meal on Sunday at her house! They put in so much effort, I really do appreciate what brilliant friends they are and how I wish they were still living next door. Speed and I created an apple crumble as a token of our appreciation, and frankly it was amazing. The whole thing was completely eaten! Especially thanks to Speed's and my 5 helpings!
Well I worked my arse off for the maths test. Thank god that's over and I can finally relax! In my time off I watched the most amazing film: 'Waking Life' thanks to a recommendation from my favourite Canadian reader: Mel. The film had so much philosophy and brilliant animation in it. It was about lucid dreaming, where you are aware that you are dreaming and can control your dream. So I'm totally hooked on the idea now! Check it out:
You spend over a quarter of your life asleep. To think that you could get that time back amazes me. You're a long time dead so think how cool it would be to have a great time while you're asleep!
Everyone dreams every time they sleep. Many times during the sleep! If you think you don't dream it just means you can't remember them. The average person spends six years of their life dreaming. Bedtime stories kick ass and I don't usually remember my dreams, so I'm going to work on it. Usually I don't wake up in the night, but last night I managed to wake myself up twice with a great memory of my dreams! I wrote them down then went back to sleep. They're still pretty unclear but I'm going to work on it. Isn't it amazing how powerful the brain is, all I did was tell myself verbally to wake up and remember my dreams before I went to sleep and it worked! The brain is SOOO powerful! I want to learn to use some of it!
It doesn't stop at bedtime stories. When you're dreaming it is possible to become aware that you are dreaming. From here you can actually control your dreams (lucid dreaming)! You could do anything you wanted! Fly, swim, give yourself 360 degree vision etc etc. This is so amazing because lucid dreaming is no different to being awake and doing what we're doing right now. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE! If you do something in a lucid dream, that is the same as doing it in real life. It's just any effect you make only happens in your dream land. Who says we're not 'asleep' right now! Ali says "Yeah, but you can't read text in your dreams", true, but I say we can't fly whilst we're awake! There is no difference!
Your brain is so active when you're in REM sleep (usually when you dream) You're body becomes paralysed so don't worry about sleep walking. During this state your brain is not distracted by senses input like touch or sound so it can concentrate fully on problem solving. Many believe your brain is most creative in this state! People sometimes ask their selves 'dream questions' as they fall to sleep because the brain can solve them much more easily whilst asleep.
It's powerful stuff guys, like being on drugs a bit, but totally legal, cool and natural (also in 'Bernard's Watch' time!). Why wouldn't people want to have fun whilst they're asleep! Look into it! I'll let you know how mine goes! I'm definitely getting into these cool films now, thanks loads for the list Mel! Anyone else has suggestions, that's perfect!
