Back from Caerphilly!

This weekend, I went to stay in Caerphilly in my good friend Speed's house (or Mike - as I called him this weekend because there were three other Speed's). I really enjoyed it, check it out:

Basically, today is our American eFriend's birthday, so Speed and I wanted to do something really special for her. We decided to make a HUGE sign out of card, so, before we went to his house after picking me up from the train station, we went to a paper shop in town. It was rubbish though, they had tiny card and we wanted huge. So we step outside, wondering where we could get some, turn the corner and saw LOADS of empty boxes piled up outside a closed-down shop. What are the odds! We grabbed arm-fulls and piled them into his car.

When we got back to his house, we got to work right away:

Two layers of card, two trips to B&Q, two layers of newspaper, duct and masking tape and we were ready to paint! (I should make this into a wikiHow)

This was a lot harder than it looked, just keeping within the lines! But we kept going, it took us from 3pm - 7pm to finish! Check it out:

Cool! Anyway, we had a house party to go to, so we put down our paint brushes and moved out. Shame the paint was still wet, we were gunna take it with to get some good snaps with strangers!

The house party was great! All of Speed's friends were nice! Plus there were a few friends I knew before.

After two tins of beer, I remembered how long it had been since I had drank. But for Speed, different story, he's a pro now! He told me all about his birthday weekend. So bummed I missed that.

We got home about 2:30, stroked his dog for a bit, then went straight to bed, soooo tired! We were pretty rough in the morning, but there was no time for that, we had a huge sign calling us to the garage. The plan was to take the sign to crazy places / people and photograph the situation. The first challenge was getting it into the car!

Anyway, we did it, then spent the afternoon driving round to 'crazy' places...

Let me tell you, it was not fun carrying this through the street

We did one where we put the sign on a bridge and drove under it to take a picture. But it was too windy so I had to stay up their holding it knelling down. Speed had to drive past four times cause he kept missing (must've been hard taking pictures whilst driving!). So I was stuck up their knelt down with people / chavs walking past, asking what was going on, cars beeping me, dogs sniffing me, anyway, it was totally worth it:

We had a lot of fun doing the sign, and it was great to see Speed again, it had been a good three weeks or so. Speed's family are really nice too :-) and the cat and ESPECIALLY the dog, man, I wish I had a dog.

Next weekend I should hopefully be going to Ashton Court Festival, I love that thing. And hopefully Speed can come to my home for the balloon fiesta, whenever it is.

So, in my so far travels of the UK this holiday, Caerphilly and Cambridge definitely get a thumbs up!
